A Game with a Purpose.

Scouting is a game with a purpose.

Lord Baden Powell

We congratulate you on making your first step towards scouting. Cub Scouts is a program for boys in the 1st through 5th grades. To get started, we need them to complete a YOUTH APPLICATION and a HEALTH CARE FORM.

As a parent, your first responsibility is to read the parents guide on Youth Protection so you understand both your responsibility as well as adult leaders obligations to keep the children in Pack 5 safe. This guide is provided with your son's rank book.

Further, if you are a leader or a parent of a Tiger Cub, you will need to take an online course on Youth Protection at www.myscouting.org.

All scouts belong to Pack 5. In the Pack, there are four ranks:

Tiger Cub: 1st Grade

Wolf Scout: 2nd Grade

Bear Scout: 3rd Grade

Webelos: 4th and 5th Grade

Your son will be placed in a den with other boys his age and work toward receiving the badge for that rank. When a boy first joins cub scouts, they will immediately work on their Bobcat badge, which requires that they learn:

The Cub Scout Promise
The Law of the Pack
The Meaning of Webelos
The Cub Scout Sign
The Cub Scout Handshake
The Cub Scout Motto
The Cub Scout Salute

Our Pack meets every month on the 3rd Thursday at 6:30 PM at the Petoskey United Methodist Church, unless we have an offsite event.

Please verify the location from our calendar or email Cubmaster Michael McGeehan at mmcgeehan@att.net or David Farley at dncfarley@gmail.com .
