Welcome to Troop 63

Troop 63 is a smaller unit with Scouts from Rodney Thompson Middle School, H.H. Poole Middle School, AG Wright Middle School, St. William of York, North Stafford High School, Colonial Forge High School, and Mountain View High School. The youth lead troop meets every Wednesday night at Kate Waller Barrett Elementary School.

Troop 63 is an active troop that engages in camping, hiking, biking trips, indoor rock-climbing adventures and much more. Troop 63 focuses on leadership skills by providing opportunities for advancement, training and individual growth.

Troop 63 has traveled to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, The Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia and many other locations for scouting adventures. During the summer months, Scouts have the opportunity to attend BSA summer camp. There they can earn multiple merit badges while enjoying outdoor activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, and archery.

New Scouts are placed into a New Scout Patrol which focuses on scout skills to assist them with earning their Scout, Tenderfoot, Second and First Class Ranks.

Benefits of Joining Troop 63

Scouting provides youth with an opportunity to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards. These opportunities not only help them when they are young but also carry forward into their adult lives, improving their relationships, their work lives, their family lives, and the values by which they live.

Scouts are taught to live by a code of conduct exemplified in the 12 points of the Scout Law, and they continue to live by these laws in adulthood.
